The Wandering Café was first established in Buffalo, New York in 1993.

The owner, Kristine Pottle, moved to Seattle, Washington in 2001 and after learning about the city and it's need for a fresh approach to catering, she re-opened The Wandering Café "West" in 2004. By January the following year, the demand for The Wandering Café's services outgrew the small rental kitchen and as of July 2005 The Wandering Café Workshop opened at 7533 Lake City Way NE in North Seattle's Ravenna neighborhood.

The Wandering Café practices the philosophy that all events are as important to us as they are to you.

No party or celebration is too small to receive the same individual attention. By simple definition, catering is about providing the necessary details for an individual event, unlike restaurants which offer one continual experience of food, ambiance and style.

Ca-ter vti
to provide what is wanted or needed in a particular situation or by a particular group of people, often to provide food and drink for a number of people.

We personally customize your event to meet the details and parameters you lay out. We provide as little or as much requested to successfully execute your vision. We do not have pages of menus to choose from, but just a few suggestions to spark your ideas. If you do not yet have an idea for your party, don't worry, let our excellent event planning team go to work for you.

The Wandering Café, though young, already has a solid reputation for excellent food, truly stylish presentation and impeccable service, which creates a completely pleasant experience, no matter how large or small!

We use organic, earth friendly products whenever possible and try to subscribe to a sustainable environment. Kristine's creative food style combines classic preparation with her take on the latest trends and an exploration of flavors to tempt the palette.

Our sense of style shines through at every event. The food presentation, linen choices, lighting & floral designs are specifically chosen and created to enhance each individual party. We believe anything is possible! The high level of service we provide begins at the planning stage, remains through the event and resonates long after it is all over.

Most of our clients are return customers or referrals from them.

Our event planning begins with very personal attention from Kristine and the Event's Manager, Emily Roberts. The service staff is always hand selected from our excellent team to match the right person(s) to the event. We follow the event from start to finish!

Please give us a call if you have any questions or you need assistance with your next gathering. Please feel free to contact us at 206.367.3676 or by email.

Kristine Pottle - Chef & Owner
kristine@thewanderingcafe.com

Kristine has fifteen years of experience as a chef and caterer. She began in Buffalo, NY catering for friends and family as a part time job while in school. Her creative style enhanced her catering to grow into a viable business in great demand before finishing college. She has a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art from University of NY at Buffalo.

Kristine officially opened The Wandering Café in 1993. She provided clients with such superb service in Buffalo and Manhattan, they would bring her to their additional residences in Palm Beach, Vero Beach & Miami, Forida. Hence... the "wandering" came about! Among the many private clients, Kristine catered regularly for several departments at State University of NY Buffalo, including the President's Office, as well as NY Senator Alfonse DeMato, NY City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and NYS Governors Cuomo & Pataki.

The Wandering Café closed after the September 11th tragedy and Kristine relocated to Seattle. While working at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center as caterer and event planner, Kristine realized the need for specialized catering in Seattle. She believes that no event is too small to receive the attention to detail that any other may have.

In 2004, Kristine opened The Wandering Café "West". The word about Kristine and her excellent food traveled fast around Seattle and the business grew rapidly. In July 2005, she finally realized her life long dream and The Wandering Café production kitchen & facility opened in North Seattle.

The Wandering Café works with many local businesses, non-profits and private clients around the Puget Sound area. Some of which include many departments at the University of Washington and the UW President's Private Home, Seattle's own Ann Wilson, Microsoft, Arts Corps, The Henry Art Gallery, Northwest Film Forum, Nordstrom, Expedia and many more.

Kristine is 36 years old and an excellent self taught chef. With her years of cooking experience, event coordination, extensive travel and over-all curiosity, she has developed a unique catering flare with an emphasis on taste and aesthetics that has proven she is one of the best.

Anne Catherine Kruger-Executive Chef
annecatherine@thewanderingcafe.com

Anne Catherine is the newest member of The Wandering Café. She wandered into Kristine's shop in April 2006 and immediately took to its style. Anne Catherine has had a passion for food and its preparation ever since she was a little girl, growing up in a household that revolved around mealtimes. The summer before she graduated from high school she asked her parents if she could attend the Culinary Institute of America, but was steered toward a traditional college education instead. She attended the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and graduated with a BA in Physics and Marine Science. For three of the four years she was at UNC she satisfied her thirst for cooking by working part time at a local co-op bakery and holding frequent dinner parties for friends.

The summer after she graduated she began working for the Sea Education Association (SEA) as Chief Steward, combining her loves of travel, the ocean and food. She worked on both of their tall ships for two years, catering six meals a day for 40 hungry sailors while they sailed both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. This type of cooking was both challenging and rewarding for Anne Catherine, having to make everyone happy with a waning supply of provisions as the voyages progressed on their six-week long legs. The ships carried her to the coast of California, Mexico, Costa Rica, Hawaii, Tacoma, French Polynesia, Fiji, The Cook Islands, New Zealand, South Korea, Key West, Bermuda, Nova Scotia and Woods Hole.

In the Spring of 2006 Anne Catherine left SEA to attend Le Cordon Bleu Culinary School in Paris where she earned a Grand Diplome in November 2006. Shortly thereafter she moved to Seattle and moved from job to job until she found The Wandering Café, a place she deems "a perfect fit." She loves the creativity and diversity of the events Kristine and Emily arrange and is anxious to please every client. She never tires of preparing dishes for others and would love the opportunity to cater the food for your next event!
